United States Senator Elizabeth Warren is calling on the Federal Reserve to lower its interest rate target on Thursday – a move most analysts believe would be a boon for crypto markets.
“It is driving up housing and auto insurance costs, which are currently the main drivers of the overall inflation rate,” the letter reads, co-signed by Warren and Senator Jacky Rosen , citing a May 31from Bankcreek Capital Advisors. “Reducing rates will reduce the cost of renting, buying, and building housing, lowering Americans’ single highest monthly expense.”
In conclusion, the senators claimed that the Fed’s current policy may force a recession that pushes thousands of workers out of their jobs.The Fed’s next interest rate decision is due on Tuesday, following the CPI inflation print for May earlier in the day. Thus far, the Fed has indicated that interest rates will stay ‘higher for longer.’
