It has been 13 years since he last kicked a ball in Glasgow but an old face is returning

It has been 13 years since he last kicked a ball in Glasgow. But given the fact he was representing the blue half of the city, he knows it means one thing. That he’ll get a less than hospitable welcome from Celtic fans at Parkhead on Wednesday. Weiss will be 35 in November and at the end of this season he’ll hang up his boots.

So whether the Celtic support gives him a hard time or not, the midfielder will savour every second. In an exclusive interview with MailSport , Weiss said: “This was one of the draws I wished for, along with Manchester City. It’s my last year of playing so it’s like a dream. Everything that’s happening – between qualifying for the Champions League and now this draw – it seems like it’s not real at times.

Weiss became a bit of a cult hero at Ibrox during his short stint at Gers due to that Double success more than a decade ago. “Overall, it was a great year for me. Rangers are still one of my favourite clubs and I follow them even now. I know they’ve been in crisis for a long time now so I was glad when they won the title in 2021. It must be frustrating for the fans there but I only have good memories. When I wanted to leave one of my previous clubs in Qatar a few years back, I spoke to Rangers and was close to signing. I tweeted that I might be coming back and it was a big hit with the fans.
