A developer has submitted plans to transform the site at Boaterby quarry into a tourist destination.
A former quarry could become home to dozens of timber-clad holiday lodges after plans were submitted.
It comes after plans to turn the site into landfill and a refuse tip were dropped by the preceding authority, Cumbria County Council. The quarry, which covers about 14 hectares of land, has a central lake and is surrounded by farmland, reported thePlans suggest 40 timber-clad lodges would be built at the site, along with parking spaces for 60 cars and two light goods vehicles.
