A popular Seattle cupcake shop closed its flagship location Sunday.
A look at cupcakes at Cupcake Royale, which has four shops in the Seattle area after closing its Ballard location on March 17, 2024. Cupcake Royale — which has shops in Madrona, West Seattle, downtown and Burien — closed its store in Ballard, located at 2052 NW Market Street, after 20 years of business.
"While this wasn't our first location, it was the one that put us on the map, and literally helped birth the cupcake revolution across the US,""Ballard has been our HQ – our bakery, our cafe and our team's office since 2004, and it’s time to move on. Thank you for being a part of our story and success in Ballard.In Hall's note, the founder clarified the other locations will remain open. Hall also said the store is opening a pop-up in Capitol Hill soon.
"Times have changed since we opened 20 years ago, and it's time to revamp our business and adapt for the next 20 years," Hall wrote. Cupcake Royale's Ballard shop opened in 2004. The store, founded in 2003, was Seattle's first cupcake bakery and cafe,
