Luke Bell is a photographer and content creator known for his YouTube channel, which he runs with the same handle. About a year ago, Bell won the GoPro $1 million challenge after converting his versatileThe tennis ball was 3D printed, and the father designed it. This time around, the father-son team came together.
After much deliberation, the design was 3D printed, and the drone was assembled with all its components. But during the maiden flight, the drone burst into flames. The team made all the parts again and gave it another shot, but this attempt, too, resulted in flames. A complete design overhaul, using thicker wires for motors and more trials, took months, and finally, the duo had a drone that wasn’t catching fire. But it wasn’t close to the record speed. The Bells continued to improve Peregrine 2. After months of hard work and engineering efforts, they were finally ready to fly their drone in the record-breaking attempt. This needed to be done in front of multiple independent witnesses.
