Residents have told of their surprise after firefighters battled a blaze at their local Chinese takeaway. Nottinghamshire crews tackled the fire at New Yeung Chow on Orford Avenue, Clifton, today .
Residents in Clifton said they "felt bad" for the New Yeung Chow owners. Dez Malcolmson had caught the bus to visit the Chinese takeaway - but found that it was closed. Krishan Kiruba, who works at the Premier store neighbouring the takeaway, shared sympathy for the takeaway owners. The 33-year-old said: “I saw the smoke outside, it wasn’t that bad. It came under control after about 30 minutes.
Paramedics were also called to the scene. Officials said a man was being treated for smoke inhalation.
