Don't pay them': Preston's Ginger Bistro says '30 to 40' customers slapped with car parking fines a week
Managers of The Ginger Bistro in Preston say they're worried their customers are paying parking fines "when they don't need to".
"So I know some of the pubs in the local area have to do it in their car parks, especially being near the hotels and stuff but it's definitely new for us and it's not a usual thing. The process we're still working on, as I say, it's still fairly new, even though it's six months old, because we've got new customers that don't know about it and things like that.
Using ANPR cameras, vehicle registration numbers are captured upon entry and exit of the car park. Customers then head to the stores using the car park like Ginger Bistro where the QR codes are placed in clear view for customer to use or they can pass the registration numbers to a member of staff. "As I say, we try and mention it to as many people as we can but when it first went in we had sort of 20 a week or something we were trying to resolve and we've had months where it's been 30 to 40 a week. As we've gotten to July has tapered off a little bit- it's not as bad.
