Eurosport's cycling coverage is moving to TNT Sports, raising concerns about the future of free-to-air access for fans. TNT Sports promises a strong free-to-air offer, including highlights and a new weekly cycling show, but details for 2026 remain uncertain.
Cycling fans in the UK and Ireland will soon have a new home for their favorite races as Eurosport 's extensive coverage moves to TNT Sports from February 28th. This shift, part of an integration between the two Warner Bros. Discovery-owned channels, will see all Eurosport cycling content, including races like the Tour de France, Critérium du Dauphiné, and Paris-Nice, transition to TNT Sports and discovery+.
While this change raises concerns about accessibility for new viewers, especially with the looming end of free-to-air Tour de France coverage starting in 2026, TNT Sports insists it will provide a 'strong free-to-air offer' to broaden cycling's reach. This includes daily free-to-air highlights of major races like the Giro d'Italia, Vuelta a España, and Paris-Roubaix on Quest this year. However, specific plans for 2026 remain unclear. TNT Sports aims to attract new fans by strategically placing cycling races alongside popular sporting events like Premier League football matches, although those viewers would still require a subscription to access the full broadcast. Beyond highlights, TNT Sports plans to launch 'The Ultimate Cycling Show' on Quest, hosted by Orla Chennaoui and Adam Blythe, starting February 27th. This weekly show promises to cater to both seasoned fans and newcomers, covering key moments from the cycling season. TNT Sports has also pledged an increase in free-to-air highlights for men's and women's major races in 2025 and confirmed Eurosport's continued operation in other European regions. For existing Eurosport viewers, the transition will mainly involve a rebranding as TNT Sports Cycling across all digital platforms. TNT Sports will also support grassroots cycling through a new club competition, with the winner receiving financial investment after a public vote during the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes.
