A cyclist has died after being involved in a collision with a truck in Melbourne's west this afternoon, just hours after a 78-year-old man died as a result of a car crash in the city's north.

It's believed the cyclist was riding on Footscray Road when they collided with the truck just after midday, and died at the scene.Earlier today, a 78-year-old man died in hospital after his car collided with another car at Pascoe Vale just after 9am.A 40-year-old Strathmore woman driving the second vehicle had minor injuries resulting from the collision.
