A Glasgow cyclist has slammed the justice system after a drunk driver who ploughed through him from behind was given what he believes to be 'a slap on the wrist'. Ian Gillies, from the Garthamlock area of the city, says his life has been ruined after a drunk driver struck his bike from behind sending him flying in the air. The super fit Glaswegian had been out on a leisurely ride on Cumbernauld Road at around 12.
30pm on May 6, last year when he was struck by Mark Hugh Shields near the Garfield House Hotel in Stepps. The 54-year-old landed around 30ft away from the crash site onto the curb, leaving him with life changing injuries and unable to work.
