A coroner said he died of natural causes
War veteran Ted Young died following a stay at the care home but a coroner has ruled his death was due to natural causes
But Brendan Allen did add he was concerned Mr Young was left in bed for long periods of time without eating or drinking enough staying at Fairways Care Home in Bournemouth. Dr Nenn said: ‘His medical physical examination notes he was clinically dehydrated as seen by his dry mouth and the condition of his skin.‘While he was in hospital we managed to rehydrate him and he was up and chatting.A coroner ruled he died of heart and kidney disease
‘I think it’s totally unfair the the blame is being pointed at Fairways for Mr Young being dehydrated.’Coroner Mr Allen, who heard around six hours of evidence, said in his conclusion: ‘The medical cause of death is one of natural causes. I have to consider whether the conclusions were contributed to by neglect.‘I do not view the dehydration caused or contributed to the death.’
