Stefan Jarmolowicz spent hours Googling his symptoms convinced that he had bowel cancer
A dad spent thousands on private scans after he was convinced he was dying of cancer. Stefan Jarmolowicz, from St Helens , was gripped by the fear he had a rare form of cancer, spending night and day scouring Google for signs and symptoms of illnesses.
He thought, “If I just have this scan, then I will know,” but this wouldn’t be the case. He added: “The scan would come back clear, and ease my mind for a while, but then the anxiety would creep back - what if they missed something? Then I'd search online for another private clinic that didn't need a referral and book in there. If you're a person with any kind of anxiety disposition, you're always drawn to the worst-case scenario.
