Joel Veite, 26, was on his way to get a coffee when he saw the killer and quickly sprang into action to help some of the young victims.

A brave father of two has shared the chilling encounter he had with Southport murderer Axel Rudakubana, moments after assisting victims.

However, Marcin noticed a disturbance when yoga teacher Leanne Lucas, who had organised a Taylor Swift themed dance event at the Hart Space community centre, was seen leaning against a car with a significant wound on her shoulder. At this point, Rudakubana, armed with a kitchen knife, was in the studio where 26 children aged between 6 and 11 were dancing.

The father rushed towards the studio when a woman in a car began honking her horn repeatedly. She had her daughter in the front seat and four or five girls in the back, reports the Mirror. Joel was assisting with first aid when he ran into the studio to check for more victims. Moments later, he encountered Rudakubana.

Court CCTV footage captured the moment Joel and three others approached the door, just as a police patrol car arrived and an officer jumped out. Joel informed the officer of the situation, but they had to wait briefly for another officer equipped with a taser.
