James Alexander Ryan, 65, had been out walking with friends along a footpath at the Peak District before the fatal fall on Saturday.
A devastated son has spoken of his heartache after his dad tragically fell to his death while out walking.
Jonathan said: "We are all so shocked, it hasn't really sunk in for any of us yet. You don't expect your dad to go away and then not come home. James worked in audio visual engineering and was a die-hard Arsenal fan who regularly visited car festivals and had an interest in vintage audio, with his own collection of amplifiers.
The Edale Mountain Rescue Team were called to the scene at around 7pm on Saturday evening, along with officers from Derbyshire Police and paramedics from the East Midlands Ambulance Service.
