The devastated family of a dad who died from Hospital less than four months after his first medical appointment have blasted the care he received. Gareth Andrew Weston's heartbroken sisters claim a "dog at the vet" would have been given better treatment.
His siblings claim this was the first time that cancer had been mentioned, and that Gareth was "in constant pain" and had lost a "worrying" amount of weight at this point. When he received a biopsy at Birmingham Queen Elizabeth University on July 26, the 6ft 1in tall man weighed under 60kg. However, Gareth - who weighted just 52kg at this point - collapsed on Sunday, September 3, and was injured when his dog scratched his face. Emma found him and called an ambulance, which took him to Prince Charles Hospital.
Tragically, the next day, Gareth died in the hospital. Emma added: "From the point that he was basically dying, the were brilliant. I just thought it's all too little, too late."
