Matt Duchene felt he found a home in Dallas. The Stars confirmed it wouldn’t just be temporary on Monday.

The 33-year-old took a major pay cut amid his move to Dallas. After making $8 million a year on his last contract, he wasDuchene struggled with the buyout, as he had been in Nashville for four years and finally felt settled. He was also coming off a serious injury where he lost the tip of his finger.
“After you go through something like that, you search and wonder and overthink things when really, at the end of the day, it’s a simple business decision that you probably take too personally,” he said in his media exit interview earlier this offseason. “Everyone around here has really helped me heal that way and move forward. It’s been the perfect situation for that.”His deal Monday showed Duchene was willing to take less to stay in Dallas.
