Queen is 'pleased' to award cancer-stricken Deborah James a Damehood
Deborah James has received a Damehood after she raised £3.7million for charity in just four days. Dame Deborah, 40, who revealed she was receiving end-of-life care set up the fundraiser after her diagnosis. The Queen led praise for the 40-year-old BBC podcaster, saying she was 'pleased' to approve the damehood.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson also paid tribute to her, saying: 'If ever an honour was richly deserved, this is it'. The BBC podcaster, 40, set up the fundraiser for Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK after her diagnosis. It is now averaging £1million in daily donations, officially surpassing the £3.7million milestone on Thursday
