A councillor is calling for action to protect a much-loved loch where visitor numbers dramatically increased during the pandemic

A Falkirk councillor is calling for action over fears a secluded beauty spot is becoming overwhelmed with visitors and creating a danger for drivers.

However, during Covid the loch became a popular spot for activities such as wild swimming and fishing as people looked for outdoor activities. Social media meant the word spread quickly and numbers using the loch grew rapidly. "Local residents are telling me that they are now at the stage they are thinking of moving because of the parking in particular. We really need a solution but we also need people to think about when they come and make sure they are parking responsibly and not causing any damage."

The property company leases a large section of the loch, including the former Black Loch Fishery where it now hopes to build holiday homes and a restaurant.
