The Whites boss opted not to make changes at the break and instead wanted to see a reaction from his starting XI
Daniel Farke felt his Leeds United players had earned the right to make amends for their woeful first-half display against Queens Park Rangers on Friday night, although he admitted he could have taken any of his forward players off.
Some fans felt changes should have been made at the interval, but Farke explained how he wanted to see a reaction to the home truths shared in the away dressing room at half-time - and also pointed to the relative inexperience on the bench. He did introduce young striker Mateo Joseph just after the hour mark, but Leeds were unable to turn the game around before two late goals rubbed salt into the wounds.
"So when I think about, for example, my offensive players I was really not happy with them at half-time. Just when I see their performance in the first half I could have substituted all of them. But also I have to say when you judge their season what they've done, they deserve some backing after a poor first half or after a poor 20 minutes. I want to give them the chance also to to show a reaction.
"Yeah, didn't find that first goal then we changed a lot in order to force it a bit. Who knows, perhaps it would have been better to stick with players who started the second half. You never know. But we then get the feeling after 60 minutes., OK now it's time to try something in personal terms. That was the reason we did this."
