Terror suspect Daniel Khalife escaped from HMP Wandsworth on a delivery truck earlier this week
A security expert has shed light on where terror suspect Daniel Khalife may be hiding after he broke out of prison. The 22-year-old was awaiting trial for terror and Official Secrets Act offences when he escaped from HMP Wandsworth on Wednesday morning .
"If he is hidden in the park, his training at Beacon Barracks in Stafford and elsewhere will give him some hints as to how to avoid detection. But if he is in the park I think he will be found before too long." Police sectioned off Richmond Park in London's southwest as they continued the hunt for the escapee.One witness said: "There are so many police involved. It's a huge operation – they must have a good reason to think he might be in there.
A "national incident" has since been declared and Border Control were placed on high alert, prompting chaos at many airports and long queues at the Port of Dover. But despite the added measures, Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Met Police's counterterrorism control, warned he may still have managed to slip away. "It's absolutely possible... he has already left the country," he said. "We believe him to be here, but we keep an open mind.
