Leighton2's purpose in Dark Matter ep. 4 explained

What Leighton2 Is Looking For In Dark Matter Episode 4’s Ending Leighton2 Is Primarily Looking For A Safe Way Out Of The Box Close In Dark Matter episode 4's closing scene, Leighton2 walks through the superpositioned corridor of The Box, hoping to find Jason and Amanda. To his dismay, he keeps opening doors to desolate, post-apocalyptic worlds with no form of life. He also seems heavily injured, suggesting he ended up in some dangerous worlds before returning to the box.
Daniela may never be able to decode what happened to her husband, but she is starting to realize Jason2 is not the man she married. She was already suspicious about the sudden change in demeanor. However, in many ways, episode 4's incidents seemed to have assured her that the man in her home only looks like her husband but is not actually him. Future episodes will likely highlight how she will confront him after this realization.
Jason2's actions are undoubtedly questionable, and he seems too lost in his pursuit of achieving what he lost in the sands of time. However, he is not a murderer. Jason2 seems to have assumed that, like him, Jason would also want to know what would have happened if he had taken "the road not taken.
