Sandro Eric Sosing was due to face Ian White in the first round
Stricken Filipino Sandro Eric Sosing has been taken to hospital and forced out of the Paddy Power World Championship.
The darts ace was due to meet Ian White in a first-round match on Friday afternoon. However, just moments before the players were due to go to the stage, PDC chiefs confirmed Sosing was unfit to play. Arena MC John McDonald announced to the crowd that the Asian star had been taken to hospital and that White would receive a bye to face Ritchie Edhouse on Sunday.
A statement from the PDC confirmed: “Sandro Eric Sosing has withdrawn from his match with Ian White on medical grounds. Sosing reported chest pains whilst practicing and following an on site assessment by medical staff he has been taken for further treatment.” Friday’s session will now finish after three matches with the final game between Stephen Bunting and Kai Gotthardt and that encounter has been pencilled in for a 3.10pm.
