Youngsters at Avondale Primary School in Darwen are celebrating King Charles III's coronation in style with a range of activities showcasing the King's passion for the environment, horticulture, photography, painting, and volunteering.
As King Charles is a known environmentalist and horticulturalist, the school encouraged the children to create 'seed bombs' using natural materials. The idea behind this activity was that the children could take these seed bombs home and plant them, thereby contributing to the local environment. where children and families can have their pictures taken. The children will be given a keepsake photo to take home with them, which is a great way to commemorate the day.As the King is also known for his love of painting, the school organised a portrait-making competition. The best two portraits will then be taken to Erin's Place to be re-created onto a REAL plate.
In line with King Charles' advocacy of volunteering, each class has volunteered to improve an area around the school grounds. The children were also treated to a traditional picnic. A spokeswoman for the school said: "Overall, the school's celebration of King Charles the Third's coronation has been a resounding success. It is an excellent opportunity for the children to learn about the King's passions and values and to participate in fun and engaging activities that reflected these. The school hopes that these activities will inspire the children to become more environmentally aware, creative, and socially responsible citizens.
