Darwin Nunez endured a tough night in Liverpool's 1-0 victory over Girona
Darwin Nunez has sent a defiant message to Liverpool supporters as his scoring drought continues. The Uruguayan endured a difficult night in the Reds’ 1-0 victory over Girona on Tuesday. The striker missed a couple of good chances against the La Liga outfit before being withdrawn after 71 minutes. He also only touched the ball 16 times and completed just four successful passes, with his ineffectual performance following on from another tough showing in last week’s 3-3 draw with Newcastle United.
Having received criticism in some sections, Nunez has responded with a pointed barb on social media as he thanked fans for supporting him. “They are not all, they are some,” he wrote on his Instagram story, accompanied by a picture of his clapping Liverpool’s travelling fans. “Thank you Reds for your support, we are all still together!” Nunez also posted a love heart emoji and flexed arm emoji, with his latest social media post a rare one written in English.
