The Winter Fuel Payment has been increased this year to help pensioners cope with the cost of living crisis, with payments scheduled to start arriving in bank accounts soon
Millions of households have been told they could receive up to £600 from November 1 to help with heating bills. The Winter Fuel Payment has been increased this year to help pensioners cope with the cost of living crisis, with payments scheduled to start arriving in bank accounts over the next couple of weeks.
The DWP is currently sending out letters to those who are eligible, explaining how much they will get. Most people who get the state pension will be paid money automatically and won't have to do anything, however some others will have to apply. The support helps those born before September 25, 1957 with heating costs during winter and is potentially worth as much as £600, depending on people's circumstances.
If you’ve had a Winter Fuel Payment before, you do not need to claim again unless you’ve deferred your state pension or moved abroad. Full details on eligibility and payments are available here.
