Glasgow residents can now apply for a brown bin permit.
Those who buy a permit will be given a sticker for their bin that indicates it can be used for garden waste.
The fee was introduced after bosses were forced to make a string of cuts entering into 2023/24 to plug an almost £50 million deficit. "Collecting garden waste is not a statutory service, which means local authorities can seek a reasonable charge from those who receive the service. "We think it's fair those who have brown bins for garden waste make a direct contribution, which will support the delivery of the service and protect other services in the longer term.
