Alabama's 2024-25 matchup with Illinois in Birmingham reportedly has a date.
UA was originally set to play Arizona in Birmingham this season, but that game was reportedly delayed. The battle with the Illini is one on a list of several difficult non-conference matchups for the Crimson Tide early in the campaign.
Alabama will also face off with Creighton and Purdue before SEC play begins. The Tide is heading to Las Vegas as well, to play in the Players Era Festival in November. As it stands now, the Illinois game would fall between the Nov. 15 matchup at Purdue, and the Nov. 26 start date of the Las Vegas event. The Creighton game is set for Dec. 14.
With the Illinois news, the Tide is missing just a few matchups on its 2024-25 schedule. One of those will come when UA learns its opponent in the ACC/SEC Challenge, which has yet to have a date announced. The 2024-25 game against Illinois will be the first of a two-game series against the Big Ten opponent, which made the Elite Eight last year.
