The proud daughter of a late Uddingston composer is ‘delighted’ after her father’s 40-year-old song about the Glasgow subway has made a comeback.
On the Underground, written by the great Scottish composer Harry Barry, celebrated the launch of the city’s ultra-modern Clockwork Orange on TV and radio in 1980. “We’d like to thank Harry’s family for letting us use the track which was commissioned to mark the last modernisation of the Subway.The musician, of Uddingston, died suddenly in 2013, but has a huge back catalogue as a writer and producer in a career spanning 50 years.Harry’s football anthem European Song, which celebrated Aberdeen FC’s victory in the European Cup Winners’ Cup final in 1983, featured in the film Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In, which premiered in 2021.
