A daughter's desperate attempt to save her mother from a devastating arson attack has left her battling her own injuries and facing the unimaginable. Michelle Farara watched in horror as her 72-year-old mother, Wilma, screamed for help from a burning house in Antrim, Northern Ireland.

The daughter of a pensioner whose home was set ablaze in an arson attack has shared her harrowing experience, vowing she'll never forget the image of her mother 'screaming out the window'. Michelle Farara rushed to her 72-year-old mother's aid after the fire erupted in Rathglynn, Antrim, on Tuesday. 'We ran round to the back of the house and my mum was screaming out the window 'help me, help me' she couldn't get out,' Michelle recounted.

'She was up the stairs, she's deaf, her eyes are badly damaged. Can you imagine how scared she was up there on her own?' Michelle herself underwent surgery after severing an artery and tendon in her arm while attempting to rescue her mother. 'I can't thank my mum's neighbour Bernadette enough,' Michelle expressed. 'If it wasn't for her seeing that fire starting, five more minutes and my mum wouldn't be alive today.' Wilma, Michelle's mother, is currently in an induced coma, battling severe injuries. 'Her eyes are badly burned, her lips are swollen, her lungs are full of soot, she can't breathe on her own,' Michelle explained. 'She's tubes everywhere, she can't breathe on her own. She's not the same woman lying up there.' Michelle's partner also bravely entered the burning home, taking only four breaths before being forced back by the flames. Distraught, Michelle said, 'I hope whoever's done this feels guilty for the rest of their lives. They need to bring themselves forward.' She described her mother Wilma as 'the nicest person,' adding, 'Everybody always had a kind word to say about her. I just don't understand how somebody could do this.' Michelle has appealed to anyone with camera footage from the Parkhall and Stiles area of Antrim, showing an individual wearing a scarf covering their face around the time of the arson attack, to contact the police
