The conference, which begins in Brighton this morning, follows a record-breaking win tally of 72 seats in the July election

Robert Jenrick and Kemi Badenoch have emerged as frontrunners in the ongoing Conservative Party leadership contest, and both candidates enjoyed boosts to their campaigns having met with Rupert Murdoch. i revealed yesterday that Mr Jenrick, who currently has the most support among Conservative MPs, was invited to meet the media tycoon when he was in London to oversee a takeover deal on Thursday last week.

Ms Badenoch, who is jostling with Jenrick for support from Tory colleagues, secured a meeting for the following day, 5 September. Like her rival she visited the 17-storey glass News Building opposite London Bridge station for an audience with the mogul of around 45 minutes.
