Club 'deeply saddened' by the news that the DUP MLA has passed away
Carrick Rangers say it will be "hard to imagine" the club with David Hilditch as they paid tribute to their former Chairman, who has died at the age of 60.
He was also a well respected Democratic Unionist Party politician before having to step down from his role in September due to health grounds.The East Antrim MLA was first elected to Stormont in 1998 and re-elected a further six times. "Carrick Rangers Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of David Hilditch," the club said."A lifelong supporter of his hometown team, David’s commitment and dedication was unwavering through both good and bad periods, playing a crucial role in building the Club on strong foundations off-the-pitch while seeing many successes under his stewardship on it.
"Elected to Carrickfergus Borough Council in 1991, David served as Deputy Mayor from 1994 - 1996 before becoming Mayor in 1997, a position he served a second term in between 2004 - 2008.
