Crossbenchers are the focus of everyone with a stake in contentious legislation. No wonder David Pocock has had enough.

has been on the warpath about orange parliamentary passes ever since a decidedly unwanted yet entirely credentialed tobacco lobbyist dared invite himself in to chat shortly after Pocock’s election.

As a key crossbench vote, he’s also an unfortunate focus of everyone with a stake in the passing or otherwise of contentious legislation. No wonder he’s sick of the sponsored guns-for-hire paid the big bucks to never leave him alone, who are facilitated in this process by the parliamentary passes handed out like confetti by others.

Pocock, for what it’s worth, sponsors 13 parliamentary passes, all to civic advocacy groups and all publicly listed on his website. Through the current inquiry, he hopes to make every parliamentarian as transparent. Though, so far, you wouldn’t say things are going his way.
