Friends star David Schwimmer has urged Elon Musk , the owner of X (formerly Twitter), to remove Kanye West from the platform following a series of offensive posts made by the rapper. West, also known as Ye, has been making antisemitic remarks, including stating 'I love Hitler' and 'I'm a Nazi' in recent posts. Schwimmer, who is Jewish, expressed his concern on his Instagram account, stating that West's hate speech incites real-life violence against Jewish people.
He highlighted the rapper's massive following on X (32.7 million), which is twice the number of Jews worldwide, emphasizing the platform's role in amplifying dangerous rhetoric. Schwimmer called for action against West's hate speech, stating 'We CAN stop giving him a megaphone, Mr. Musk.' He also pointed out the lack of sufficient outrage surrounding West's actions and the need to hold him accountable.The Campaign Against Antisemitism has also joined the calls for Musk to remove West from X. This incident isn't the first time West has faced backlash for his antisemitic comments. His X account has been suspended twice previously, once in December 2022 for praising Hitler and another time in October 2022 for making similar remarks that led to Adidas terminating their partnership with him. Despite these suspensions, West returned to the platform each time, raising concerns about the effectiveness of content moderation measures.
