The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) approved the release of P5 billion to the Bangsamoro government “to rehabilitate its conflict-ridden communities, including those in Marawi City.”

DAVAO CITY—The Department of Budget and Management approved the release of P5 billion to the Bangsamoro government “to rehabilitate its conflict-ridden communities, including those in Marawi City,” the Bangsamoro information office annouced on Wednesday.

“Recently, I also approved the Special Allotment Release Order amounting to P5 billion for the Special Development Fund [SDF] of BARMM [Bangsamoro Autonous Region in Muslim Mindanao] for the rebuilding, rehabilitation, and development of its conflict-affected communities,” the information office quoted Pangandaman as saying last month.

The Republic Act 11054 of the BOL mandates the national government to allocate a yearly P5 billion SDF to BARMM over a period of 10 years for the purpose of rebuilding, rehabilitating, and developing the region’s conflict-affected communities. The Task Force Bangon Marawi, which leads the rehabilitation efforts, previously stated that the city required at least P49.8 billion for its restoration, the information office said.
