Formula 1 2023 rookie, Nyck De Vries, reveals how brotherly Max Verstappen’s support felt before the 2022 Italian Grand Prix.
The 2022 Italian Grand Prix was De Vries’ first F1 official race, in which he took Alexander Albon’s seat at Williams.The Dutch driver has been in an F1 car before, where he ran practice sessions for Aston Martin and Mercedes. However, the Italian GP was his first ever race. Nerve racking is probably an understatement, but the 27-year-old had support.
“That was unique. We’ve [Verstappen and I have] known each other since we were kids. We’ve grown up in the same era of racing. We, I think, approached karting and racing in our earlier years, very similar. We both travelled around in a van with our dads. We just really respected each other and we saw each other every weekend, pretty much.”
