The deadly mosquito-borne virus Encephalitis has been detected for the first time in regional South Australia.
These chickens are bred specifically to test the spread of mosquito-transmitted viruses.
Encephalitis has not been detected in humans since 2011, but SA Health is warning residents across the state to remain vigilant and wear mosquito repellent.
