A mother of five was thrown from her rented motorized scooter after crashing over a buckled sidewalk in downtown Salt Lake City. She was pronounced dead at a hospital hours later from apparent severe head injuries. had been damaged for more than a decade—though its condition did not appear as severe as the broken concrete at the site now.
"Those photos show that buckling has been there for almost 13 years," said Gonzalez, adding his family "loves" the city, but the sidewalk should have been repaired. Adjacent to a business—this sidewalk is next to the downtown Sheraton—city ordinance says the business pays 100% of the replacement.
