I need to know where this is going because I hate keeping us a secret, even though it’s obvious to most people that we’re seeing each other.
Dear Coleen A couple of years ago, I joined a squash club with colleagues from my office, playing every Thursday night after work. I was a beginner and rubbish at it, but was keen to get fitter and also have a fun social activity to take my mind off my divorce.
He was also quite recently divorced and previous to that he’d been married for a short time in his 20s before his wife was killed in a tragic accident. He told me he took a very long time to get over her death. I love him, but he’s never said he loves me or talked about moving things on or having a future together. Please help.
His first wife died and he divorced his second wife, so perhaps he’s terrified of what might happen if he gets too close. But I totally understand your frustration and not being able to have a relationship that’s out in the open where he acknowledges you as his partner.
