At least three people were killed in the Houston area during Hurricane Beryl’s arrival.

A 53-year-old man was reportedly entrapped and unresponsive. He was reportedly sitting in the house with his family, riding out the storm, when an oak tree fell on the roof, causing the structure to collapse on him. He was later pronounced dead.In a separate incident Monday morning, in northwest Houston, a caller reported that a tree had fallen through the roof of her grandmother’s room in the 17400 block of Rustic Canyon Trail. The 74-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Wednesday, when Beryl was a powerful category 4, at least seven people were killed as the storm roared through Jamaica, according to The Associated Press.
