Cheshire East Council planning officers have recommended the Zoo2U permission at Twemlow Lane be refused
The fate of a proposed new zoo near Holmes Chapel hangs in the balance, with a decision expected next week following a successful legal challenge by animal rights activists to overturn its planning permission. In July, Cheshire East's southern planning committee had unanimously green-lit Zoo2U's application for the zoo on land at The Orchards Farm on Twemlow Lane, against the advice of planning officers.
' 'The head of planning has exercised his discretion in accordance with the council's constitution to present the application to strategic planning board . 'Given that members of SPB have not considered this application previously, they will be able to consider and determine the application afresh. ' In seeking permission for a new zoo and wildlife conservation park, the application includes plans for a visitor centre, animal enclosures, and essential works.
