The TRAX Decker Lake Station in West Valley City will remain out of service until damages caused by a Sunday train derailment are fully repaired.
Utah Transit Authority spokesperson Carl Arky said that safety, maintenance, and engineering crews had removed the derailed train car on the TRAX Green Line near the Maverick Center at 11 p.m. on May 12. The incident had occurred several hours earlier at 2 p.m. The car was reportedly hoisted back onto the rails by crane and transported to a maintenance facility by a tow truck.While no passengers were on board the fourth car when it became disconnected and no injuries were sustained, a thorough investigation into the derailment has been initiated as standard protocol involving internal, state, and federal authorities.UTA crews are working around the clock to return the Green Line to its normal service schedule.
In the meantime, passengers using the TRAX Green Line at West Valley City and River Trail will be transported by bus between the two stations and should plan for an additional 10 to 15 minutes of travel.
