Mason Mount finally scored his first Manchester United goal since arriving from Chelsea in the summer, ending a 14-game barren run
Declan Rice has congratulated Mason Mount for scoring his first Manchester United goal. The 25-year-old midfielder, who controversially swapped Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford in the summer transfer window, fired United ahead against Brentford in stoppage time.
Mount thanked the travelling fans for their support and he vowed to end the campaign on a high. The England international wrote: "Mixed feelings, but I’m proud to celebrate my first goal for this club! We’ll continue to work on finishing the season on a high. Thank you for all the support." Speaking to the official United website after the game, Erik ten Hag heaped praise on Andre Onana for spectacular efforts. The Dutchman said: "We made some mistakes and we have to talk about this of course. We should act differently in that occasion where we conceded the equaliser, we should have acted differently in that situation.
"Rasmus Hojlund had a great chance. When you make the winning goal that is when you must bring it over the line. I am very pleased for Mason but I also feel sorry for him as it should have been the winner."
