'The world is ready for it now'
Deepika Padukone has made a name for herself through undertaking some of the biggest roles in Bollywood – but could she be the next big superhero?Speaking exclusively tofollowing her iconic Madame Tussaud’s waxwork figure unveiling, she revealed she would love to tackle the role, hinting it would be ‘very interesting’.‘Yeah, of course. Why not?,’ she told us. ‘I mean I’d say Indian origin.
‘And I think the world is ready for it to see one of these superheroes, one that originates from India. But we might not be seeing Deepika getting her cape out in the very near future, as she’s heading on set of her next film in a couple of days.‘I start filming on my next film, it’s called Chhapaak,’ she continued. ‘It’s a story inspired by the acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.
The Padmaavat actress was joined by her closest family members, including her parents and husband Ranveer Singh, for the big reveal, and admitted it was ‘overwhelming’. Discussing the model, she said: ‘I mean, it’s something that you… I can’t even say something you dream of because, to be honest, as a little girl when I went there for the first time, I didn’t ever imagine that years later be going to unveil my own figure.‘And I think more than, to me, I think it was an extremely overwhelming experience for my family.‘My parents went there for the very first time more than 35 years ago, when they first got married.
‘And I didn’t ever imagine that, you know, a day will come when my figure will, you know, make its way there. It’s very, very surreal, exciting.
