A clinical psychologist testified in Daniel Garcia’s murder defense that his daughter’s statements were influenced by “suggestibility” and coaching.

A clinical psychologist testified Tuesday in Daniel Garcia ’s murder defense case that it was highly probable that Garcia’s daughter was coached into testifying that she saw him hit the 5-year-old boy he is accused of killing in 2021. The witness, Lisa Watts , reviewed videos of the child’s interviews following Domenic Patrick Aguilar ’s death, and her testimony last week at Garcia’s trial, and told the jury, “I do believe she is a victim of suggestibility and coaching.

Testimony: Dead boy was buckled into a seat next to his sister on a road trip to Colorado They have said Aguilar pinned all of the abuse on Garcia, and that his daughter was coached on what to say in court, changing her story from what she had said a month after Domenic died, when she told authorities she never saw her father hit the boy. Aguilar testified last week that Garcia was the primary disciplinarian, and would punch Domenic in the face, chest and buttocks, and withhold food.
