– Defense and goalkeeping are two underrated facets of lacrosse, but Thursday, the Palmyra boys team showed off its talent in both aspects on Senior Night.The Cougar defense shutout Mechanicsburg in the second half and goalkeeper Colin Ward was spectacular in the net with 18 saves as Palmyra defeated the Wildcats, 14-3.Palmyra struggled early on but was able to take a 4-3 lead into the halftime break and scored 10 unanswered goals to break the contest open.
Palmyra, now winner in seven of its last eight games, improves to 11-4 on the season and strengthened its hold on a District 3, Class 2A postseason berth. The Cougars finish the season with games against State College and Cumberland Valley next week. Palmyra’s offense enjoyed a balanced scoring attack with Dan Driscoll, Landon Karczewski and Lucas Verdelli all notching three goal hat tricks. Jacob Lantz and Connor Klucinec added two goals each. Eli Rose added a single marker.
