A 26-year-old delivery driver was fatally shot in New Haven , Connecticut , on Sunday afternoon while making a delivery for a Chinese restaurant. Police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a person in the road near Shepard Street and Goodrich Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered Raviteja Koyyada, of Hamden, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives determined that Koyyada was employed as a delivery driver for the Chinese restaurant and was shot while delivering an order to a residence on Shepard Street. Koyyada, who had immigrated to the United States from India as a graduate student, recently completed his studies. He became acquainted with the restaurant staff and eventually began assisting with deliveries. The restaurant owner expressed deep sorrow over the incident, stating that he was devastated when Koyyada didn't return from his delivery and staff had to go search for him.
