Indian 'Delta' variant causes 84% increase in COVID-19 cases in children
The US is now averaging 100,000 new infections a day - up from about 11,000 cases a day in late June. The 7-day average for daily new deaths almost doubled in the past two weeks from 270 to 500 a day Friday. The surge in cases is overwhelming hospitals in hotspot states with Missouri officials stationing 30 ambulances and 60 medical staff to transport COVID-19 patients to other regions as hospitals are too full.
