'So finally getting to a diagnosis was key so that I could learn what frontotemporal dementia is and I could educate our children,' she admitted. Emma added, 'I've never tried to sugarcoat anything for them. They've grown up with Bruce declining over the years. I'm not trying to shield them from it.' Demi is basking in the glow of her first Oscar nomination. She is nominated for Best Actress for her role in The Substance.'I realized I didn’t have the benefit of feeding off other actors in many of these scenes,' she explained. And at 62, she doesn't take it for granted, knowing the penchant the film industry has for casting aside older women. 'We’ve all heard the narrative — women of a certain age in Hollywood are discarded, overlooked,' she said. 'But look at what’s happening now. There’s interest in our stories. There’s room for us.
