Ever since she became a movie star in the 1980s, Demi Moore has never shied away from flashing the flesh on camera.

'Every script I used to get, I would go to page 73, because that always where the sex scene was!' he quipped. 'It didn't matter if it was a movie about priests and nuns, on page 73 there was going to be a sex scene.' Directed by Adrian Lyne, a dab hand at the genre whose work included Fatal Attraction and Flashdance, the movie placed Demi amid a formidable cast.
The film even became a fashion touchstone because of the slinky black Thierry Mugler dress that Demi wears during the fateful proposition. As a result, she set a condition for the director: 'He would be free to shoot the sex scenes however he wanted, but in the end, I could review the footage and if there was anything I felt was too invasive or gratuitous, he would cut it.'
She and Woody Harrelson play a married couple - with Robert Redford as a billionaire who says: 'Suppose I were to offer you $1 million for a night with your wife' Set in a Puritan town in colonial America, the story follows a woman named Hester Prynne who is shamed by her religious community for having a baby out of wedlock.
'I was moved by someone who had the courage and strength to stand up to whatever degree of adversity and pain for what she believed in,' Demi told the San Francisco Chronicle. 'I would like to aspire to be Hester Prynne.' The dark comedy stars her as an FBI agent who finds herself without a job and resorts to stripping at a Miami club called the Eager Beaver.
Striptease director Andrew Bergman, who also co-wrote Blazing Saddles, remarked later that his movie with Demi 'did better than almost anything I’ve been involved with. All the subsidiary stuff was gigantic.' Although the movie was derided by the critics, it managed to scrape together a respectable profit - thanks to the pull of Demi's topless scenes
