By James Matthews, US correspondentThe shadow of Barack Obama looms large - an icon of the Democratic movement and American history. The same applies to his wife, Michelle Obama. When both address the Democratic convention today, there will be some concerns for party managers. Mr Obama gave Hillary Clinton the podium push in 2016 and that didn't work out too well.
That may well be the reason behind today's choreography - whereby Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz are travelling to Milwaukee to give a speech, at the venue where the Republican convention took place.The Tuesday night choice of Obama is a deliberate one. After the farewells to Joe Biden on opening night, the theme for day two is 'a bold vision for America's future'.
